Theme: Your Thoughts on Organ Donation

Artist statement:

Organ donation is not only sharing life to those who need it. It is giving love, a love that says I can risk my own to extend yours. In my drawing, I drew two hands grasping each other. One hand is un-oxygenated and colored blue, it represents people queueing for organ donation and some may feel hopelessness while waiting. The other hand is multi colored and full of life, it represents people who are willing to help and give parts of them to others who need it most. These two hands are in the shape of a human heart, symbolising love and empathy. Because only if we see ourselves in the lives of others that we can truly understand and feel them, thus loving them and helping them the way we would want to be helped if it is us in that situation. I want to advocate the importance of giving. It is when we give that we become truly rich. You have a heart richer than the richest man on earth when you can give the priceless gift without asking in return, the extention of other’s life.
