Theme: Your Thoughts on Organ Donation
Merit, School Category, 2018

Artist statement:
I drew a girl reaching out to a woman who is giving her a gift while she is disappearing; to represent an adult giving up his or her organ to save the life of a child on his or her passing. The woman's heart colour is dull as she is nearing the end of her life. Her heart lives on as she gives the gift of life to light up the little girl's heart (depicted in bright red). I drew two female main characters in dedication to my friend, Janelle, an 8 year old Singaporean little girl who had flown to Taiwan 18 months ago to wait for a donor for her heart transplant. She had gone through so much and her heart is getting weaker everyday. I hope this poster will inspire us to donate to save a life. The heart shaped balloon attached to the gift is made up of different organs that people can donate to help those in need of a transplant, thus the title of my poster, 'Gift of Life'
