Artist statement:

In the artwork, the tree represents the life of an organ failure patient. The leaves of the tree are gone and blown away. This leaves the tree dying, a representation of the organ failure patient.

The heart from another tree, a healthy tree whose life is now gone, represents the organ donor. This new heart now 'powers' the tree, restoring life to it, representing the organ failure patient after the heart transplant. The restoration in life is represented by the glowing buds growing on the tree. Thus, the phrase 'You can light up many lives' suggest the idea of giving life back to others through becoming an organ donor.
