Theme: More than Me - Beyond this Life
Second Place, School Category, 2019

Artist statement:
Frogs symbolise hope and rebirth, which is why I chose it to be the main vessel for the organ in focus. The frog encases a human heart, striking against the green body, portraying life brimming with hope and bright with joy. The image portrays the new life that an organ donor has given to another, a chance at a brighter future.
I have specially chosen the glass frog species for the image of the frog is not only because of its skin's transparency, but to also signify that the organ donors and their families' goodwill and kindness are 'through and through', pure and unadulterated.
The contrast between the image of a human heart and a frog body also suggests that the donor's heart living and breathing on in someone else's body, living beyond the time of its donor.
