Artist statement:

Unlocking a Part of Someone Else - We need to be courageous to step forward and offer our 'key' As keys are precious to us, handing them over to someone else would be a great deal to both parties. As a result, I decided to turn this heart into a key. The artwork depicts a large hand handing over their 'key' of the heart to a slightly smaller hand. Their difference in sizes shows how the organ donor (the person handing over their 'key') plays a huge and important role to the person receiving the organ. Both hands are distinctively different in terms of race and religion. I differed the colour of the hands to show that anyone, regardless of language or religion or race, can donate their organs to someone who is in need of an organ.
