Artist statement:

As an organ donor, you become a beacon of hope to patients whose organs have failed. Organ transplants have benefitted many people and gave organ failure patients a second chance to live. Organ donation is one of the greatest gifts that one can ever give. The many balloons, which are organs, formed a heart shape, represent a gift of hope and happiness as well as a release of painful times. It is largely symbolic to our goals, dreams and aspirations. During tough and fearful times and the uncertainties of what tomorrow may bring, the gift of organ transplant gives the patients a new hope and dream. Organ transplant symbolises the heart of care and love for others. I used bright and peaceful colours to show the happiness one can receive from an organ transplant. The birds, butterflies, flowers and hands formed by simple shapes show the beauty of helping those in need as well as the feeling of acceptance. The donor is reaching out to the patients with new dreams and hope for them. The gift of an organ transplant gives them a hopeful future with their loved ones.
