Artist statement:

My artwork is about the process during which the organ recipient waits for an available organ for transplant. The heart, damaged and fragmented, depicts the emotions of the patient, the uncertainty and fear they feel while teetering between life and death. The hands represent the medical team and the patient's friends and family members, supporting them during this time of distress, giving the patients hope that they will eventually get to live their normal lives once again. The support and love from the people around them keeps the patient positive and allows them to dream of a brighter, better future.
