Artist statement:

My artwork is of a hand holding a birch tree growing from a heart, breaking out of a bottle. The birch is a symbol of new beginnings, hope, new dawns and the promise of what is to come. A symbol of hope is growing in the donated heart, symbolising hope for new beginnings. The hand grasping the heart symbolises the organ recipients' grasping for their chance at a new life. The bottle represents everything holding the recipients back from living their life, be it a failing organ, fears or past bad experiences. My artwork represents the recipient breaking free from the bottle of fears with a new heart, into a new life filled with hope and life.
