Theme: From fears to dreams

Artist statement:

Many people fear organ donation, and feel horrified by that idea, but what if we were to look at it from a different angle, not focusing on the gory part? Inspired by immortal jellyfishes, I believe that by donating organs, we will not only recommence and save a life, but also birth dreams. Jellyfishes float in the water, giving the illusion of flight, thus their aim is to soar beyond the clouds. With paper folded stars representing the donated organs, these jellyfishes soar to the sky, while bringing the focus away from the organs, which are camouflaged as the seabed (which comprises of the heart, kidney and lungs), illuminating the ocean with the empowerment of the organs' previous owner. I hope my artwork will show that we can overcome our fears for organ donation and be an immortal guiding light for those who need it, and that organ donation is a beautiful and kind act. Thus, we can turn our fears into dreams.
