Theme: A new beginning

Artist statement:

I wanted to come up with a design that would encourage people to be organ donors and donate their organs to those in need after they have passed on. I hope to convey the message to others and most importantly, to improvise on something that would bring comfort, relief and hope to organ recipients, their families and loved ones. Therefore, the concept that I came up with has puzzles with organs on it: a heart, stomach and a pair of lungs. The puzzles represent fitting parts together to form a complete picture. The organs on the puzzles represent the missing parts of someone who needs an organ transplant. Therefore, the organs on the puzzles can be donated to someone. The colours on each puzzle represent something significant; Pink: Compassion, Nurturing and Love, Blue: Peace, Faith and Trust, and Green: Abundance and Hope. I decided to include daisies in my concept as it would give a positive and lively outlook to the artwork. The daisies represents New Beginnings, symbolising innocence and purity. I added the phrase You can change someones life because anyone can donate their organs. With organ donation and ones kindness and compassion, organ transplant recipients get another chance to start over and live on.
