Theme: From fears to dreams
Fourth Place, Open Category, 2020

Artist statement:
Two persons, with arms extending towards each other, represent the organ donor and organ failure patient. Being unable to foresee the future, their eyes are shut as they embrace each others fears and uncertainties. The donor hopes to give a chance for the patient, and the patient hopes to gain a chance to be free. Their dreams are reflected upon each other, like the mirrored hearts. The two hearts, red and vibrant, represent the love and devotion to their own ambitions, as well as the dangers that might lie behind their goals. The red string that connects these two hearts represents the love and support of family members who care for the donor and the patient. It is inspired by many different cultures, and most commonly seen as a symbol of protection, faith, and good luck. With the support and love from their families, organ donors and patients are able to rise above their fears and move forward to achieve their future.
