Give Even After You Are Done Living, Pencil & Paint
Theme: A new beginning
Special Mention, School Category, 2020

Artist statement:
The beginning of a new life even after the passing of one. The black and white spaces in the middle represent a faulty heart, portraying a dying person in need of a new heart. Taking this into consideration, this explains the wilting plants in the background of the black space. The saturated and colourful heart depicts the donor's heart for the patient who is in desperate need of a heart transplant. This liveliness and hopefulness can be conveyed by the backgorund which displays a variety of colours and living flowers. A few of the flowers included were daisies, daffodils and lilies, each with their respective meanings. Daisies and daffodils stand for rebirth and new beginnings while the lilies which I picture it to be a striking orange stand for honour; honour in receiving the donor's organ.
