The Hands of Hope, Digital Illustration
Theme: Bridge of Hope
Second Place, School Category, 2021

Artist statement:
My work encapsulates the hope provided by organ donors to those suffering from organ failure, and the connectedness of the donors in their good deed. The dark pit of organs like the heart, kidney, lungs and liver are depicted at the side, with dark blue swirls, sad faces and hands. This symbolises the plight of patients with organ failure. The hands on the left, which are reaching down from the light to grab and lift the hands emerging from the pit symbolise the hope and salvation provided by donors to the patients. The hands are connected by the IV drip attached to the wrists, fostering a spirit of togetherness. The hands line up to form a bridge that ultimately leads to a set of hands holding up a plant and a heart in the light, symbolising a path of love and support donors provide for the patients, leading them to a new hope.
