Artist statement:

This illustration represents a child missing the final puzzle piece of a child-like portrait of himself. I made this a metaphor for being “incomplete” in a happy life as he does not have a proper heart. He is only a child; he is oblivious to what is happening to him (which explains why the portrait looks happy) yet aware that a piece of his chest is missing. This is a tribute for patients in need of a missing organ, specifically children as most of them have no chances of living a complete life. I hope that those who see this can feel sympathetic and help these children search for their missing piece, or realistically, help them in the search of hope.
