Theme: In Search of Hope

Artist statement:

I like to imagine everyone has a timer from the moment they are born on earth. That timer runs out when one’s time is up. The character has only 4 months and 20 days left, as seen on the timer (years:months:days). Obviously that isn’t much time, and if a person were to know that that’s the time they have left, they’d feel desperate and panic. Her decayed heart lays amongst the red spider lilies and white butterflies with shades of blue which are associated with final goodbyes or death and the later symbolize the spirits of the living and dead in some cultures. The background has the word “HELP”, though barely visible, it’s her silent whisper of prayer with desperation in search of an organ donor who can save her life as her world is breaking away. All in all, I hoped to portray death in a different way, perhaps from the victim’s point of view in their desperation. It takes a lot for one to resist the callings of death, especially when they may feel that there is no hope for them left. However some souls continue to persevere in their search of hope, even with the burden of all these things surrounding them.
