Artist statement:

This piece is based on the theme “In Search of Hope”. The lady who has kidneys that are not perfectly functioning has to stay in the hospital all day, and the vines of the roses symbolise how she is restricted from going on with her life, being with her family and working. The wilted petals below the bed show her despair and hopelessness. Her parents and doctors are surrounding her, and all of them are worried about her. The butterflies around her signify her loved ones joining her in this hunt for hope. We can help those in need by showing compassion and donating organs, hence the heart shaped cloud behind her.
