Artist statement:

My artwork consists of a patient in need of an organ transplant surrounded by piles of thrown telephones. The telephones symbolise the numerous calls for help for suitable organ donors, and the patient using the telephone booth was her last resort. The telephone wire distorted into the shape of kidneys that grew larger gradually, highlighting her growingly desperate calls for help. The background features vibrant pop art which contrasts with the patient’s plight. Pop art is known for popular culture, which highlights others’ ignorance and lack of concern for such problems. The faces of the background have fingers on their lips, showing that others also often stay silent about the problems of the lack of organ donors for patients on the waiting list. Till this day, they are still searching for hope, hoping that they will finally get a call from a suitable organ donor to save their lives.
