Artist statement:

This artwork shows a polygon designed anatomical heart on the top of an hourglass. The bottom of the heart is depleting and crumbling into a clock which forms at the bottom of the hourglass. The disintegration of the heart shows that as time passes on, the heart slowly weakens. As the heart crumbles to the bottom and forms a clock, it shows that time is slowly “running out” the longer one waits. This edges one to believe that there is still hope and time to possibly save someone’s life. The butterflies placed by the sides portrays the change they would be able to help a patient achieve. As butterflies experience “metamorphosis”, the characteristics to one that successfully receives a transplant is very similar. This lets them feel a sense of hope, change and growth.
