Artist statement:

My artwork is about cornea donations. In my work, the main subjects are three people of different colours. Two of them (green & blue) share an eye each with the purple person. This demonstrates how one person may be able to save two people. The yellow and red pattern of the eye expresses hope and courage. Courage of the cornea to be transplanted and hope that the cornea's availability brings. The purple on the woman illustrates her bravery and darker shades are assciated with death and mournings as many cornea donors pass before they are able to donate. The blue on the other person represents freedom as they can pull free from the chains of needing a cornea. The green person represents a new beginning for the cornea that was donated as it continues work in a different person. The eyes in the background represent the commonality for an eye treatment but the eye merged with a clock shows the long wait for the cornea before it can find a place where it is needed again.
