Artist statement:

To me, colours express emotions, and they come together to tell a story. In a dark cave, the statue of a girl overturned by nature represents a patient suffering in darkness for a long time. Until one day, a wizard stumbled upon their world and casted a spell to bring colours back to the forgotten city, using the flames of life to light up the city once more. The girl is able to venture beyond the walls that once imprisoned her, with ships to guide her on her journey to new worlds.

Donors are the wizards that give the miracle of life to their recipients. Though they may be small, their magic can have massive impacts on the patients. Every organ makes up part of a massive city we called the body.

The expression of colours shows how donated organs bring vibrancy to the patients’ lives, and to the city within them. Donors pass on their flames of life, allowing patients to explore new adventures like never before, while the healthcare workers, family, and friends of the patient act as guides towards a new life, as symbolised by the flying ships.
