Artist statement:

My painting shows the illustration of a heart in pursuit of hope. The failed organ is portrayed as being encased with man-made machinery, like the real heart which is surgically implanted with a LVAD while waiting for a tranpslant. The organ expresses positive feelings and is hopeful even though it is having a difficult time. The heart is portrayed as a character which displayed courage and determination on its journey for a new lease of life. It is painted with dull, pale colours, as darker colours depict a stormy side. The background is painted with lighter, brighter and cheerful colours to represent hope and happiness.
