Artist statement:

The kidneys demonstrate power and strength. They represent the healing process that involves donated organs allowing patients to become stronger than they were before, mentally and physically. The alveoli in the lungs on the left have many different facial expressions, while the ones on the right are made of many different eyes. The happy alveoli celebrate their importance while the crestfallen ones show the desparity of damaged organs. The healthy heart is holding an umbrella over the damaged heart, as if to shelter it from all the struggles. The drawing as a whole shows that donated organs are crucial for patients but damaged ones are not forgotten.
