Artist statement:

Using this artwork, I wanted to illustrate how we should not take our organs for granted. It also depicts how our organs are similar to the internet, and how we can make use of the internet to promote organ donation.

The internet allows us to have information at our fingertips, as it is easily available. It allows us to easily access endless options for anything, from shopping to gaming. Like the internet, our organs allow us to live comfortably, and provide us with boundless opportunities to do as we please.

However, we often takes these things for granted. We do not know how difficult it is to research for a project when the internet is gone, or how difficult it is to enjoy simple things like sports when your organs are not functioning properly.

I believe that through using the internet, many people and I would be able to reach an audience and make them think about how hard it is to live without an operative organ. The internet would allow many people to look at their own organs from a different point of view, and have greater empathy for people in need of organ donations.

To me, the internet is a window of opportunity for people to reflect and empathise with others. It allows modern audiences to be further exposed to the topic of organ donations and show people how privileged they are to have a good body.
