Artist statement:

The artwork is about stitching together our lives together. It is about being connected and our healing wounds. The bear represents the person getting a transplant. The hands are the hard work of doctors and surgeons, helping to make the surgery successful. The patches with drawn hearts are the support given by family members of the surgeons, which is used to patch up the wounds of the person getting surgery. The black buttons are the lives sacrificed to make the organ transplant happen. To make an organ transplant successful, there is a need to cut and stitch back again, just like their lives that would become better for them in the future.
