Artist statement:

This artwork depicts me and my eyeballs watching sky lanterns being released into the sky from a distance. It is based on one of my favourite memories from my childhood where I attended a festival in Thailand, Loi Krathong, and released sky lanterns. I remembered being entranced by the enchanting picturesque view, and tried to sear the view into my retinas, afraid to even blink and miss a second of the beauty. Hundreds or maybe even thousands of sky lanterns were released that night, and for that fleeting, magical night, I felt thankful that even if just once in my life, I was able to see the beauty of thousands of twinkling lights fade into the sky.
