Artist statement:

For 'My Organ, My Companion', I decided to draw myself having enjoyed a meal and a hot cup of drink with my stomach organ. Most of us do not hesitate when deciding what and when to eat, but do not realise the things we take for granted. Survivors of gastrectomy live their lives without a stomach, they have to get used to stopping and thinking twice each time they eat or drink due to the possible complications that may occur. When eating gives most of us a warm feeling of joy and comfort, these survivors have to deal and cope with the difficulties of their reality. My artwork is meant to emit a sense of common routine in our daily lives; a nice meal to full ourselves. But, it is also meant to bring attention to how our stomach plays a huge part in helping us to digest and continue with our lives without having to worry much. People can improve one's life by being aware of, as well as, considering organ donation.
