Artist statement:

Our piece details a creature flying a kite with its heart attached to it, casting a light that causes flowers to bloom in abundance. This creature has no distinctive features, as those in need of organ donations could be anyone, as organ failure does not discriminate. Both the creature and its heart are joyously flying kites, which it was unable to do previously due to the lack of a healthy heart to sustain a trip outside. The flowers have different meanings in flower language: dandelions symbolise hope, sunflowers happiness, and alliums prosperity. The light from the organ causing the growth of these meaningful flowers shows that having healthy organs brings positive attributes and feelings. The parts untouched by the light represent the creature being devoid of life without a healthy heart, emphasising the organ being a saving grace, changing their outlook on their previously bleak life entirely. The message of this artwork is that having healthy organs allows one to be stronger both physically and mentally.
