The Cycle of Hope and Renewal, Mixed Media (Acrylic Paint, Pen, Pencil)
Theme: Making a difference that endures across time
Distinction, School Category, 2024

Artist statement:
Inspired by the timeless resilience of dandelions, my art explores the profound connection between their essence and advocacy for organ donation. Just as dandelions symbolise hope, strength, transformation, and resilience, organ donation offers a similar promise of renewal and empowerment. The simple yet profound act of blowing dandelion seeds mirrors the spreading impact of advocating organ donation, reaching far and wide to touch lives and etching enduring memories akin to the bubbles drawn in the monotone time travel segment. This cyclical journey through time leaves indelible imprints, resonating across generations—whether a decade or half a century later. From the innocent gesture of a girl blowing dandelion seeds to the profound impact on someone, like the mother at the end of the dandelion field, touched by organ donation, each encounter perpetuates a cycle of hope and renewal that endures across time.
