Artist statement:
My artwork was made to highlight the variety of roles anyone can play, that goes beyond just the physical act of organ donation. Inspired by watchmakers and the ample patience and love poured into their craft, I wanted to showcase a story about a passionate mechanic that had created a safe haven for her patients.
Organ failure is a devastating thing that could happen to anybody. Hence, my drawing aims to advocate for support for patients with organ failure. “One small step can go a long way”: the countless actions made by the smaller cast of characters in the drawing reflects the roles individuals can take to show their support. It can range from just listening to patients’ stories to talking to them or advocating for organ donation. These little details may seem small to an average person, but the support may be huge to patients, and even their families.
