Artist statement:

This art piece illustrates a little girl's journey through the entire experience of her heart malfunctioning, undergoing a transplant, and her recovery period. This is a change that endures across time since it shows how she recovers from an organ transplant (heart transplant) and how she is slowly able to live her life to the fullest after her transplant. It shows how she is able to overcome the struggles of being the receiving end of organ transplant. This backdrop of the human organs serves not only as a literal representation of the physical transformation the girl undergoes but also as a metaphorical landscape of human fragility and strength. It shows the structure of the human body and is meant to provide structure to the artwork symbolising the fact that she needs organs to survive and live well.
