Theme: Making a difference starting with me

Artist statement:

My artwork is about heart donation. The heart is the bird’s home, conveying the comfort of the recipient with the donor’s heart. On the top right of the heart, a bird's feather symbolises freedom post-transplant. The distortion at the heart’s sides represents the recipient's second thoughts. At the bottom, the lotus and sunflower symbolise perseverance and happiness. In the middle ground, I omitted drawing veins to maintain a peaceful theme, using blue to connect flowers instead. The S-shape of the heart leads the viewers through the artwork. The fishes in front in the sky represent freedom and luck. Behind, jumbled fishes represent confusion with atmospheric perspective, fading outlines and colour. A dove at the top symbolises renewal, holding a green ribbon for organ transplant awareness. In the background, simplistic clouds avoid overcomplicating the picture, emphasising the heart as the focal point, supported by two stones at the corners. Hence, the title “Sky High”.
