Theme: Making a difference that endures across time

Artist statement:

I drew the image of an hourglass with darkened organs (malfunctioning organs) that are being transformed into new organs through organ donation. The hourglass symbolises time and the impact of organ donation as a lifeline for those who need it.

The impact of organ donation is not just for the recipients (short-term) but also their families (medium-term) and communities across generations (long-term).

This is as illustrated on the bottom of the hourglass whereby people who receive that lifeline are grateful for the second chance to live for themselves and for their loved ones.
