Artist statement:

The artwork depicts a grandmother smiling down at a roll of film that represents her life's memories. The juxtaposition of the more modern camera with an eye for a lens and the film roll that transitions from the old-timey sepia to the more vibrant colours of today symbolises how the new, donated corneas can help a person capture the memories of their life through sight. The general background festivities show how happy the grandmother is and the film roll shows the experiences she has undertaken with her new organ. The meaning behind the artwork is that organ donation can be because of a person's end, but also be a beginning for someone else, and their life can take on new colours because of that donation.
