Artist statement:
This artwork captures the invisible yet powerful connection between organ donors and recipients, a bond not built through words exchanged in life. Each paper crane in flight, represents a letter of gratitude by someone who was granted a new lease on life. Carried across the sky by golden threads, these messages travel back to the “source”. The donor's heart is no longer beating, however it continues to provide the gift of life. The girl riding the crane symbolises this journey of thanksgiving, how a second chance in life and every heartbeat is deeply tied to someone who gave without expecting anything in return. This artwork illustrates how even in loss, we find connection, and in giving, we create legacies that ripple across lives, carried on the beating wings of remembrance and love.
