Artist statement:
My artwork tells the story of a young boy whose dream was to become a professional basketball player. Though his life was cut short, he was eligible to donate his organs, giving five individuals a second chance at life. In this artwork, those five recipients came together to honour his dream by playing in a basketball match. At the heart of the scene, they lift his spirit into the air to complete one final slam dunk—symbolising how their gratitude has become a powerful, united action. Each player wears a jersey marked with the organ they received, showing how the boy’s gift lives on through them. The surrounding crowd represents the ripple effect of his selfless act, reminding us that true gratitude inspires hope, unity, and compassion that can reach far beyond a single moment.
