Artist statement:
A single action can create ripples of gratitude in others. The organ recipient stares at the pond in endless gratitude for her saviour. It reflects not only the physical world but one of gratitude and life. Beside her is the deceased donor's soul, visiting her, grateful for the opportunity to leave a legacy by donating his organs. The mushrooms represent rebirth, resilience and healing from grief. Both families watch from afar with a connection formed through the gift of organ donation. There is gratitude in grief; there is legacy in donation. The organs above represent the healthcare industry, grateful for their donation. The paper stars are made by people who are greatly inspired by their contributions. Lastly, the birds carrying away medical equipment signals the end of suffering. Beneath the same sky, we experience different things, but we are connected by a thread of gratitude that echoes in our hearts.
