Artist statement:
My artwork is inspired by traditional Chinese painting and Buddhist values. It shows a Buddha’s hand gently holding a lotus flower with a heart in the centre, surrounded by flames. I chose the theme 'A Connected Gratitude' because I believe organ donors are like modern-day Buddhas. They give life to others through their selfless actions. The lotus symbolises rebirth, just like how a donor helps someone start a new life. The blue heart stands for a pure and kind soul, and the flame shows that life is strong and powerful. Together, the heart, lotus, and flame look like a torch, representing how love and life are passed from one person to another. The words “One lamp lights all lamps” remind us that one act of kindness can inspire many more. Through this artwork, I want to show how organ donation connects people through hope, love, and selflessness.
