Artist statement:
This artwork reflects the timeless connection between two generations through organ donation. On the left, the elderly figure represents a donor whose life experience and wisdom are etched into every line on her face. On the right, the younger woman with a flower in her hair symbolises renewal, youth, and the continuation of life made possible through the donor's gift. The lotus flower, often seen as a symbol of rebirth and purity, reinforces the idea that something beautiful can emerge from loss. The soft shading and tender expressions create a mood of reflection and reverence. This piece speaks to the deep emotional bond that forms between lives touched by organ donation. Though the donor and recipient may never meet, their connection is lasting and profound. The artwork honours this quiet yet powerful legacy, reminding us of the grace in giving and the beauty that lives on.
