Artist statement:
My artwork features two pairs of hands holding each other, one larger and one smaller. The larger hands represent the organ donors, while the smaller hands, forming a heart shape within the palms, symbolise the recipients. This heart-shaped gesture conveys the deep meaning of giving. Resting in the smaller hand is a seed, sprouting a vein-like stem that stretches outwards, bearing colourful flowers and “fruits”. The seed represents a new beginning and hope. The “fruits” represent the donated organs, the gifts of life. Scattered across the hands and organs are small blue figures, symbolising the spirits of the donors who have passed on. Though they are no longer physically present, their love endures. The blue figures reflect the gratitude that lives on in the recipients, a lasting tribute to selflessness, love, and the power of life.
