Artist statement:

My artwork illustrates the profound sense of gratitude experienced by organ recipients, and how it motivates them to give back to society. The girl in my artwork represents an organ recipient, playing a glass violin which has a glowing heart encased within — the organ received from her donor. Her tearful expression shows the deep gratitude she feels for the sacrifice her donor made. Surrounding the heart are also mystical butterflies, which symbolise the vitality and spirit of the organ donor, inspiring the girl to transform other lives as well. The melody she plays represents her way of giving back, using the life-saving organ to create music that brings comfort and peace to others who may be suffering. The warm glow putting her in a spotlight also shows the hope that radiates from her, as she wishes to pass on the powerful spirit of giving that transcends the act of organ donation itself.
