Artist statement:

My artwork offers a view through the eyes of an eye organ recipient. Receiving a donation means the world to them and the recipient’s gratitude is quiet but profound. On the left, the donated eye contains a moon that glows, symbolising the cyclical nature of life. A goldfish soars through the air, linking the girl to the eye. It represents luck, and the graceful, silent journey of a gift passed from one being to another. The girl, who is the recipient, cradles a lit candle, a symbol of hope that refuses to be extinguished. She stands in the river during the Yipeng Festival, where floating lanterns carry prayers of thanks. The festival is an act of gratitude - each lantern is a heartfelt thank you to the donor, transforming endings into luminous new beginnings.
