Artist statement:

This artwork portrays a connection that reaches beyond the boundaries of reality and art. The colourful hand emerging from the flowing batik-inspired patterns symbolises hope, support and the lasting impact one person can have on another. Although the two figures exist in different spaces, their hands reaching towards each other represent comfort, healing and emotional connection. Through flowing artistic patterns and colours, we wanted to show how emotions and memories can continue reaching others beyond words. We used vibrant colours and intricate details to create movement and warmth throughout the artwork, while the contrast between the colourful hand and the girl’s softer tones symbolises hope entering her life during a difficult moment. Through this artwork, we wanted to portray how kindness and human connection can continue reaching others beyond what we can physically see.
