Artist statement:

The artwork depicts the journey of a donor’s heart, experiencing a new journey that its recipient is able to embark on due to the donation. Many times, the cause for the need of donation is not by choice. The lilies at the bottom represent rebirth, a new start. As the heart beats for its new host, it experiences the joy and gratitude of the recipient, getting another chance at life. It also gets to live through the many more cherished experiences and memories with the friends and family of the recipient, all made possible due to the donation of the heart. This artwork aims to show that death is not the end of an organ’s journey. Rather, it could bring a remarkable change to someone else’s life, allowing recipients to be able to continue experiencing the small, everyday bits of life.
