Theme: Organic Perspectives

Artist statement:

I drew this artwork on ibispaint x with the inspiration of the sketchbook collages I saw on social media. The use of multimedia was quite eye-catching, almost enchanting. So, I knew I had to try it out, too. I made this in the imagination of how a transplanted heart would live through its second life. Would it have lots of exciting adventures? Would it be happy? Then, I decided 'Yes, it would live a wonderful life.' First, I sketched out what my heart would look like. A cartoony heart contrasting real life to convey the joy and fun it experienced after the transplant. Afterwards, I used bright and mostly warm colours for my heart and its surrounding subjects to wear. The colours created a sense of cheer which I thought was suitable for the meaning of my painting - 'Donation brings bliss'. I love to imagine a happy result from such a heartwarming and charitable action. That is why my artwork focuses on the positive things brought by the transplant, such as the memories made after the surgery which is impossible without the donation.
