Theme: Organic Perspectives

Artist statement:

The picture is showing a sick kidney having a conversation with a healthy kidney. The sick kidney is injured and very tired. She feels incredibly sad and helpless as her master’s body is failing because of her. The ‘heart lock’ on her symbolises her master’s body with a missing key. Without the key, which is the kidney, the master will die. Seeing the sick kidney, the healthy one places his into her lock heart, pumping love and transferring itself into the sick kidney’s master’s body. The sick kidney eventually fades and is replaced by the healthy one. Leaves grow around the chair which the sick kidney is sitting on, symbolising the growth of a second chance of life. At the top, there are organ receivers with a ‘full lock heart’. They are complete with the organ key, the organ they need. They can perform regular activities and spend time with their loved ones. The people below are the deceased with ‘empty lock heart’ as they have missing organs which they have donated, yet their organs are smiling in the new person's body. The flowers surrounding them symbolises a fresh new life. A big green heart in the background shows generosity and love, along with a river that flows continuously, like an organ that lives on.
