Artist statement:
My theme of my drawing is 'Alternate Perspectives’. In life we always see the perspective of the recipient, the family members and their loved one. But if we look into another alternate perspective from the doctor, nurse and the surgeon who work tirelessly to save ones life - the backbone of medical industry. In my drawing. We can see one surgeon trying his best to pull a red string that connects through a girl's heart. Another surgeon rushing over holding another red string that is connected to two red stars, trying to give the red string to the first surgeon. In the middle, we can see a patient girl in an ember of light, the ember is her life forces, glowing brightly, showing that she wanted to live on. Her hand hovered over her heart, trying to protect it. While her soul slowly leaving her body behind, spreading her wings and growing out in a halo from her head, seeming to reach out to heaven, a red string is seen to go through the girl's heart and out of her back, chaining the soul back to her body. An angel is seen trying to reach out to the soul, trying to guide her to paradise. And lastly, 5 red stars can be seen in the drawing. It symbolises the donors and the people, but they do not have a string that connects to the second surgeon. It shows that only a handful of people are willing to donate their organs to the needy. In conclusion. The surgeon, doctor and nurse are the Heroes, buying time and saving life back stage with no one thanking them.
