Theme: Organic Perspectives

Artist statement:

My artwork is about a man whose soul has already passed on, but donated his liver to a professional swimmer suffering from a liver infection and in need of a transplant. No one else was willing to donate except him. The cherry blossom trees in the top left corner are being blown by the wind. The wind carries the petals and fragrance towards the swimmer, symbolising hope, encouragement, and the continuation of life. With this second chance, the swimmer is able to continue chasing trophies and bringing pride to the country. The puzzle piece in the centre represents the liver. It is being pushed towards the man with a missing puzzle piece in his body, symbolising the unfinished parts of life that can finally be completed with one final piece. At the bottom right, there are many healthy foods that the swimmer can now enjoy. The tomatoes represent sweetness and sourness, while the cucumber symbolises a soothing and cooling feeling, reflecting the comfort of being helped and healed. The bright light shining on him represents God giving him one more chance to reveal his true strength and potential.
