Theme: Organic Perspectives

Artist statement:

My artwork explores the hopeful and precious moments of organ donation. I felt deeply emotional when I watched a video of the parents of a deceased heart donor listening to their child’s heartbeat through the recipient's body. It made me realise that organ donation is incredibly meaningful and beautiful and it became my inspiration for this poster. Warm colours were used in the artwork to symbolise the heartfelt and touching moments of organ donation. The soft glows emphasise the hope and positive impact that organ donation brings to the recipient and their families. Since I chose the theme, 'Organic Perspectives', the organs in my poster are portrayed as living characters. They are smiley and surrounded by flowers, which represent the organs’ gratitude and appreciation toward donors for giving them a second chance in life. There are also small stars in the background of my poster which further emphasises the hope and beauty of organ donation. Through this artwork, I hope that viewers are able to empathise with organ recipients and feel a sense of warmth, hope and appreciation towards organ donation.
