Theme: Organic Perspectives

Artist statement:

This illustration shows the perspective of a cornea of how it would see the world through a new lens. Inside of the cornea, there is a slightly blurred and distorted girl inside. The distortion of the girl is to represent the abstract feeling of getting used to seeing with a new eye. The bright wave of colours around the eye, in the background is also meant to represent the distorted and strange feeling of looking at a new and unfamiliar environment for the first time. The girl inside of the cornea is also glowing and shining brightly while being surrounded by darkness. This light in the darkness represents the clarity of now finally being able to see clearly after getting a cornea transplant. The flowers drawn all around the background and eye are also daisy flowers. I chose daisies since it is a flower that is meant to symbolise 'a new beginning' which shows how the cornea is now in a new body and environment.
