Theme: Alternate Perspectives

Artist statement:

The passing on of the suitcase is symbolic of the generous act of organ donation, as perceived from an outsider’s perspective. I used harmonious colours paired with clean, simple strokes to make my art piece look like ‘eye candy.’ This was because I wanted even a stranger to be able to portray organ donation as a beautiful act of giving. Gifting should be celebrated, not feared. The stickers on the suitcase represent each organ’s unique persona and role within the body, and a hint at the contents within the suitcase. I hope this stranger’s bright perspective on organ donation will be able to inspire and spark a ripple effect within the community to better understand, value and celebrate this beautiful gift of life.
